Here is the link to the our October 4th Utah Alliance meeting. Don't forget that you can register online and pay through PayPal.  The meeting agenda includes a presentation from Natalie Gochnour on the state of the economy. Her presentation is worth the price of admission alone. We will also be discussing eco-tourism and tourism trends in economic development. Make time to be with your fello economic developers if for no other reason than  to visit the beautiful Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge center.

It is time to set your sites for Brigham City and the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge Center for the Fall 2011 Utah Alliance Meeting on October 4th. Once again, the planning committee has done an excellent job putting together a relevant and educational agenda. Besides the great meeting topics, we will also be taking a tour of the center and for those of you who love to play golf - we've got another round set up. Check out the agenda:

The cost for this fabulous meeting is just $40, which includes the meeting, food, and tour of the bird center. The golf outing is a little extra and will be collected at the course that day. To register for this meeting, go here. Remember you can pay online through PayPal - which will pop up after you register. The more I find out about this great place, the more excited I am to visit. Head on over to our registration page and sign up. Off to Springville for our Summer Meeting

springvillecityhallCan you believe it has been 3 months since we last met? It's time again for our Summer Meeting. Hopefully you have all saved Thursday, July 14th on your calendars for our meeting. I think the meetings just keep getting better and better. And this one is no exception. We will be meeting at the beautiful new Springville Civic Center and we have an agenda that is packed full of information that will be useful to you in your jobs. If you are a golfer, stay after the meeting for a great game at the Hobble Creek Golf course. For just $42 you can play a round of 18 holes with fees and cart included. And if golf is not your thing, come tour the beautiful Springville Art Museum. We can't wait to see you on Thursday, July 14th. Register online here. For those of you playing golf, you can pay your $42 fee at the Hobble Creek Golf Course before you play.

Attention Alliance Members: Mark your calendars for the two remaining meetings in 2011. We will be meeting in Springville on July 14th at the Springville Civic Center. Our fall meeting moves up north to Brigham City, where we will be meeting on October 4th. The agendas for those meetings are in process. We have had some fabulous speakers for our past meetings this year. You won't want to miss out!

Renewable Energy Conference Next Week

There is something for everyone at the second annual Utah Renewable Energy Conference, hosted by the Utah Solar Energy Association (UtSEA) and the Utah Technology Council (UTC) to be held Tuesday, April 19 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Salt Palace Convention Center in downtown Salt Lake.

Goal Zero, a conference title sponsor, is giving away 17 portable solar power systems that will charge small electronic devices for one to two hours. They will give away seven of these systems during the day and raffle off 10 additional systems to attendees in the evening from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

A Great Spring Meeting

ltgovWow, ladies and gentlemen, the Utah Alliance Spring meeting was a great success. We reached our goal of 100 people there. We had great speakers and presentations. We had wonderful food. We met in a perfect room for such a large group. We had a attentive and pro-active host.

In all ways possible, it was a great meeting. Go to our blog page to see more pictures of the day.

Utah Tourism Conference Scheduled

Tourism is one of Utah’s largest industries, generating $6.2 billion in traveler spending every year and $625 million in state and local taxes.  It’s estimated that there are 110,600 tourism-related jobs in the state.  Nationally, the tourism industry employs one out of every nine workers and is responsible for $704 billion in direct travel spending by domestic and international travelers, according to the U. S. Travel Association.

Online registration is now open for the 8th Annual Utah Tourism Conference that will be held in Park City from May 11-13, 2011.  The three-day conference will be held at the Grand Summit Hotel at the Canyons Resort in Park City.  The conference is co-sponsored by the Utah Office of Tourism and the Utah Tourism Industry Coalition (UTIC).  Utah’s annual tourism conference will coincide with National Travel and Tourism Week.

Spring 2011 Alliance Meeting

The Spring 2011 Utah Alliance meeting is ready for registration. The meeting with be held at the SOS Staffing Center headquarters in Salt Lake City and promises to be one of our best yet. Our goal is to have this meeting be the biggest meeting ever. We are looking to have 100 people at the meeting - so invite all your colleagues to come as well.

While in Salt Lake, you need to take some time to explore the capital city of our state. We'll be highlighting some of the things to do and see on our blog between now and our April 5th meeting. January 2011 Utah Alliance Meeting

Please join us for a wonderful day in Washington City! 

Our Annual meeting for the Utah Alliance for Economic Development will be held at the beautiful new Community Center in Washington City on January 11, 2011. Please plan on joining us!

 Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. Meeting time is 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and includes a delicious lunch! Presentation topics include: Opening of the new St. George Airport, Bonding Issues, Recruiting Businesses from California and a Legislative Update!    The Alliance meeting is held the day before the annual "What's Up down  South" economic summit in St. George.

We also will be hosting a fun 9 hole golf outing at 2:30 that afternoon at the Washington City Green Springs Golf Course for just $24 including cart. Please indicate that you would like to play golf when you register.

Cost for the meeting is $40 and you can pay online with credit card or at the door (cash or check only).  We do not invoice and no shows are billed. Please RSVP before January 4th.
