Utah Valley University will be holding the Economic Development 101 and 201 winter courses starting January 29th, 2021. See attached flyers for information.
Economic Development 101 course is designed to cover what an Economic Development Practitioner should know. This course is also excellent for elected officials. It covers Strategic Planning, Business Expansion and Retention, Workforce Development, Finance, Marketing, RFI Response, Site Selection, Tax Increment Financing and more.
Economic Development 201 course covers Tax Increment Financing and Marketing Your Community. The 201 course takes a deeper dive into creating a Community Reinvestment Area. The students will create a CRA area from beginning to end to include reporting. The Marketing looks at existing marketing material and then goes into finding your voice and messaging. The 101 course is a precursor to this course but not required to take the 201 course.
If you know of someone who you feel should take these courses, please feel free to pass this information along to them. If you have questions, contact Marlin Eldred.
